Summer Conference on Advanced Placement STEM Teaching

Here’s an important opportunity for teachers who guide their students’ honors and Advanced Placement® studies in English, math, or science. The Pre-AP Teacher Training Program, supported and implemented by the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), will deliver to Michiana-area teachers in grades 6 – 10 Common Core-standardized and Advanced Placement-aligned training and support materials in these subjects. This experience is scheduled for July 30-Aug. 2 at Concord Community High School in Elkhart, IN. Register now at https://www.ltftraining.org/myltf/Registration/EventRegistration.aspx?EventId=3548.

This workshop week provides teachers the strategies and skills that transform teaching, enrich schools, and advance high school students significantly in their pursuit of college- and career-readiness. The registration fee for the entire program is $595, and it includes a wealth of materials valuable for experienced teachers, as well as newcomers to these courses.

The Pre-AP Teacher Training Program in Elkhart, like a companion training in Indianapolis, is conducted by NMSI and endorsed by the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program in Indiana (AP-TIP IN), a grant-based program in the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initiatives that engages teachers, students and schools to boost student performance in the critical STEM disciplines through support for Advanced Placement ® teaching and learning.

Registration for the Pre-AP Teacher Training Program at Concord High School (59117 Minuteman Way, Elkhart) will soon close. For more information, contact NMSI at 877-655-3090 or visit the NMSI website at http://www.nms.org/training. Find out more about the AP-TIP IN program, including the parallel Indianapolis institute scheduled July 16-19, at https://iei.nd.edu/programs/ap-tip-in/.
